Dear friends and colleagues, On behalf of the Seafarers' Union of Russia and myself personally, I congratulate you on Labor, Spring and International Workers' Day! May Day is a triumph of justice and unity, a celebration of solidarity and peace. 

This is a special day for trade unions because members of the decent work movement unite to claim their rights to safe workplaces, decent pay, recognition and respect. Many seafarers will spend this day at sea, which is a specific nature of seafaring. 

SUR will continue to strive to secure for each union member a wage level that will allow him and his family to have a good life and good rest, receive high quality education and medical assistance. As before, SUR will participate in a social dialogue to seek the enforcement of the right to safe work, social guarantees, and humane treatment for Russian seafarers. 

With all my heart, I wish you enjoy your work at sea, and let your professional performance be always appreciated. Let there be spring, harmony and prosperity in your homes on the shore!
